What is CiteON?​

CiteON is a Shopify app that helps your store:

  • Generate and manage llms.txt & llms-full.txt
  • Control which AI assistants can access your content
  • Add structured data (JSON-LD) for AI search
  • Improve how AI understands your products and FAQs
  • Increase visibility in AI-powered search experiences

Installation Guide​

Step 1 - Install the app​

Install CiteON from the Shopify App Store.

Step 2 - Choose a pricing plan​

Select a plan that fits your store size. You can start with the Starter plan (free forever) and upgrade anytime.

Step 3 - Complete onboarding​

During onboarding, you will:

  1. Enable LLMs files
  2. Choose which AI assistants can access your files
  3. Select which content sections to include
  4. Set file update frequency

Click Finish and CiteON will start generating your AI-optimized files. The processing time depends on the number of products in your store.

If your product count grows, upgrading ensures your entire catalog remains AI-accessible.

Enable App Embed in Theme​

To ensure CiteON works correctly:

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes
  2. Click Customize
  3. Open App embeds
  4. Enable CiteON App Embed Block
  5. Click Save

This allows structured data and AI-related enhancements to be injected properly into your store theme.

⚠️ Important: If your store is password-protected, AI assistants may not be able to access your content.

Understanding llms.txt & llms-full.txt​

What is llms.txt?​

yourstore.com/llms.txt

It tells AI systems:

  • What content they can access
  • Which assistants are allowed
  • Which sections are included

Think of it like robots.txt - but for AI models.

What is llms-full.txt?​

yourstore.com/llms-full.txt

A more detailed version of llms.txt that may include:

  • Expanded content
  • Product listings
  • Structured summaries
  • Additional metadata

This is useful for:

  • Larger stores
  • More detailed AI indexing
  • Better citation accuracy
